Where will the project be located?
The project site is located offshore South-East Korea, between 65 and
80 km from the city of Ulsan, South Korea and covers an area of
approximately 240 ㎢. -
How did Shell and HEXICON AB form a partnership?
Shell is one of the world’s most advanced companies in offshore
engineering, with over 50 years of deep-water experience in oil and
gas and have strong relationships with Korean shipyards.
Hexicon AB is a world-leading project developer and
technology provider in the emerging sector of offshore floating wind.
Combining strengths and experiences from both companies,
we decided to join forces early on to make optimum use of
our strengths in design, offshore project management, financing and
technology. -
What is the overall project timeline?
Subject to future investment decisions, MunmuBaram project will be developed in phase(s) with total capacity of up to 1.2GW.

How much will it cost to construct the project?
Currently, development of MunmuBaram project is privately funded
through a joint venture between Shell and HEXICON AB.

How much power will MunmuBaram generate?
MunmuBaram plans to develop total of 1.2GW floating offshore
wind farm. Total planned power of 1.2GW is enough energy to power
over 700,000 households homes.(Source: Ulsan City) -
How many jobs are expected to be created
by the project?According to City of Ulsan, 35,000 jobs are expected to be created
through development of 1GW floating offshore wind farms.
MunmuBaram project will support new jobs and supply chain growth
across all phases – development, construction, and operations. -
Are there any impacts of this project on the local
economy and the national economy?With its global experiences and expertise, MunmuBaram will work
closely with local partners to successfully develop a floating offshore
wind project in Korea and contribute to overall industry growth and
job creations. -
What are some impacts on the fishing industry?
Is there any conflict with the fisheries?We are actively engaging the local communities, including the fishery
unions, to address their concerns.
MunmuBaram is committed to develop the project through an open,
transparent, and collaborative process. We will be conducting
data-based impact analysis to determine any impacts on the fishing
industry and the environment.
