Completion of Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) for the Floating Offshore Wind Project MunmuBaram

(August 28th, 2024) The floating offshore wind project ‘MunmuBaram Co., Ltd. (Representative Director, Youngkyu Ju, hereinafter ‘MunmuBaram’) received approval for its Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) from Korea’s Ministry of Environment and Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy following consultations with the Ministry of Environment and relevant agencies. This significant milestone brings the project one step closer to the Final Investment Decision (FID) stage.

The EIA process, conducted by the MunmuBaram project team, involved a comprehensive examination of potential environmental impacts on both offshore and onshore ecosystems, as well as socioeconomic factors. The team actively engaged with local governments, stakeholders, and the public to ensure their valuable feedback was incorporated into the assessment.

YoungKyu Ju, Project Director of MunmuBaram says: “I am proud that we have reached this milestone after years of hard work in assessing how our project could affect its environment and marine stakeholders.
